Braço de Prata Loft

In the zone of recent expansion that is Braço de Prata, one is now seeing the first building or space conversions that seek to conjugate scales and uses in an urban fabric that brings combines the large dimension of the nearby port with the smaller scale of services and housing. This former office, regular in plan and containing only tree pillars, is now a spacious home and studio that focuses on spatial amplitude and the horizon of the Tagus Estuary. One single entrance provides access to a distribution space for both the dwelling and the studio. In the studio, a concrete podium extends along the length of the space, serving as a conduit for the infrastructures. Outsized in terms of its height, the podium also becomes a long bench for contemplation of the views. The house follows the same principle of simplicity and flexibility, grouping all the infrastructured areas together and leaving the rest as free space. The two bedrooms can be moved within the space to adapt to the given familial conditions or to take advantage of the best views depending on the time of year.
