Braço de Prata Loft

  • (2017 reabilitação)

Braço de Prata, in Xabregas, a neighbourhood that has undergone a profound transformation of uses, has slowly been renovated. Industry, including weaponry, gave way to the tertiary sector and merchant navy logistics. Later, cultural spaces have settled there, and housing in the last decade. This loft is one of the first conversions that combines different scales and uses in an urban fabric that unites the dimension of the port with housing. The old and spacious office is now a home and studio. The studio is crossed by a concrete podium that hides the infrastructure and serves as a bench seat to contemplate the Mar da Palha horizon. The house follows the same principle of flexibility, adding service spaces and freeing up the social areas and bedrooms, whose position may vary according to family life and the time of year.
