Founded in 1782, this iconic café in Lisbon stands out for its cultural significance and architecture. The façade features four doors flanked by pilasters and four windows with curved stone lintels. Inside, the café has a wooden counter, ceiling and walls clad in white tiles, while the restaurant retains the historic atmosphere with its stucco ceiling divided by arches, wooden doors, mouldings and decorative details such as mirrors and pine cones. At the rear, the kitchens, pantry and wine cellar ensure the building remains functional without compromising its identity. Martinho da Arcada remains a meeting place in the city, reflecting the tradition of Lisbon’s cafés as venues for culture and conversation.
