The IAPMEI Campus, planned in the 1970s, was built on Lumiar’s rural land registry as a business innovation hub. This building adapted another pre-existing one, through a project selected by tender. The plan is organised among the reception floor, the work floor for management and staff, and the bar, cafeteria and terrace floor. The material and spatial solutions equate poetics and rationality in the face of contemporary commissioning, project and construction processes. This issue is reflected both in the co-research with visual artist Vhils on the large-scale casting technology basis—from which the bas-relief work in prefabricated concrete panels of the zigzagged façade derives—and in the visibility of the pre-existent concrete under industrial, tactile and comfortable coverings such as black cork or engineered wood panels and carpets.
