The São Roque Palace – Portugal da Gama is a 17th century civil palace, located at the intersection of two important districts of Lisbon: Chiado and Bairro Alto. On the corner of Rua da Misericórdia and Largo Trindade Coelho, with Travessa da Queimada, parallel to the River Tagus, it benefits from light to the east and south, as well as views of the water. In 2024, it will be opened to the public as a museum, following a restoration by João Pedro Falcão de Campos, which has preserved the palatial integrity of the building. A testimony to ancient cultures and civilisations, this space displays evidence of a wide range of periods, from the 3rd century BC to the 20th century. Its recent transformation into a museum has allowed it to open up to the city, and its collection includes a variety of works of art from different regions of Asia.
