Humberto Delgado Airport

  • Original Authors:
  • Keil do Amaral
  • (1940)

The Lisbon Airport is one of the largest public works projects undertaken in the Estado Novo period. Of the original design one should note that the architecture was characterised by a reformist approach, seeking a return to new, modern forms and abandoning the preferred styles and models. In this sense, the airport was one of the most positive moves towards reforming architecture for public works. This airport has many different areas, let’s name a few, for instance, Terminal 1 and its baggage reclaim areas, and central control and management zones, and the airport apron and service areas for the apron and runways.
