Inaugurated in 2003, it replaces the old stadium with a new, contemporary infrastructure, built according to innovative principles and techniques concerning the construction this type of buildings. Considered a Category 4 stadium by UEFA, it hosted important international sports events, such as the finals of both Euro 2004 and the 2014 Champions League. With roughly 65.000 covered seats, it is composed of four rings spread through four stages. Beside the stands, the structure also accommodates many utilities such as locker rooms, support and events rooms, a health club, offices for the football club’s various departments and a panoramic restaurant.
