About the Place
A large urban void is thought over, giving birth to a plan based on a programme divided into three spheres of urban life: dwelling, offices and commerce. The Square of Entrecampos—one of the largest urbanized areas of Lisbon, located between Cidade Universitária and the city centre—re-designed urban space among squares, streets and inner patios of semi-private use. Two blocks with a rhythmical and geometrical façade rise, tensioned by two routes with significant automobile traffic, on a very inclined plot, extending over 8 floors and containing 650 apartments. The liveability of each of the two inner patios is guaranteed by the various offices and store fronts operating at ground level. During the day, and after business hours, the public patios return to its private status. Two ramps provide communication between the two blocks, allowing for access to the nearly 3800 parking spaces.
