About the Place
This house is the result of an intervention that, through the rehabilitation and expansion of a pre-existing building, brought back the vernacular characteristics of the façade. On the posterior façade, the rhythmic design of Lisbon’s bay windows and balconies was regained, and these now work as a delightful veranda over the patio that outlines the back of the building, at the ground floor. Inside, the objective was to free the space, enhancing its scale, the relationship between façades and the plasticity produced by the light of different moments of the day. By focusing on a contemporary interpretation of the building’s original features, this rehabilitation accomplishes a clean space, flooded with light, focusing on the details and the materials, in a simple palette, essentially composed of white stucco, limestone and solid pinewood.
