About the Place
The traditional Japanese layout of the tea ceremony served as inspiration for the renovation of this apartment, where each direction of the floor has a specific function – entrance (genkan), circulation, living room and dining room – here around a T-shaped pillar. The pillar is exposed and left in visible concrete: the structure becomes architecture. Around this main space, the rest of the programme that makes up the house connects directly to the social space, which is large and free of corridors. One of the bedrooms allows for flexible living: sometimes closed and isolated, sometimes open and in direct relation to the social space of the house.
