Amoreiras is the only one of the older Portuguese shopping centres that remains and up-to-date and lively presence. Located on top of one of Lisbon’s hills, it has earned its place in the cityscape and the urban profile of the city of seven hills, representing a new period of liberalness and post-modernity in the city’s history. Designed by Tomás Taveira, the complex includes a shopping centre, three office towers and a residential complex. The Amoreiras Towers are one of the city’s highest points, at 174 metres, offering 360º views. The views extend over the rooftops of the city to important landmarks such as the Castle, the Tower of Belém, Basílica de Estrela, Lisbon Cathedral, the 25 April Bridge and the Christ the King statue. At the viewpoint long-distance binoculars are available, in addition to information on the city’s most characteristic landmarks.
