About the Place
The former warehouse in Alvalade’s Handicrafts and Light Industry zone has a hybrid character, with heavy reinforced concrete structures and lighter, residential-like claddings and finishings. This renovation preserved these elements, with an intervention that changed the building’s use to housing. In order to improve conditions of health and hygiene, in the building’s centre an atrium and a new recessed level of light wooden construction were added, thus converting this apartment into a duplex linked to the roof terrace. The result is an apartment that maintains many industrial characteristics, while also creating the conditions necessary for contemporary living.
