About the Place
On a historically vacant plot, the project completes the urban frontage of Av. Santos Dumont, and seeks to acknowledge and respond to its specific context: the boundary between the city and the railway canal. The internal organisation of the residential programme directs most of the common areas of the apartments to the south, in order to allow the wide, diaphanous and fluid spaces characteristic of contemporary living to relate to the city. This approach gives the building a sense of transparency and lightness, protected by a metal skin of vertical elements, railings and screens that give intimacy to the balconies and apartments. The rear façade, on the other hand, makes use of more specific openings that protect the private spaces from visual and noise pollution, while at the same time allowing to enjoy outdoor spaces over the garden.
