About the Place
Pap’Açôrda is one of Lisbon’s most iconic restaurants. Originally founded in Bairro Alto in the 1980s, it moved to the first floor of the Ribeira Market in 2016, keeping pace with the city’s changing landscape. The refurbishment project by architects Aires Mateus stands out for its integration into the existing building. The space now has a more open and contemporary atmosphere whilst retaining the homely feel associated with the restaurant’s culinary tradition. The restaurant is organised into two rooms, each with a bar, which are separated by a glass-fronted wine cellar and the central kitchen area. These features structure the whole space.
