About the Place
During the day, this former home to a merchant sailor association, which has been kept in its original state with its murals, service counters, ring buoys and secret passageways, serves as the studio of the artist Alexandre Estrela. But now and again, at night, this “port” becomes a safe haven for cult sessions of experimental films and videos produced by national and international artists. The unconventional screenings are part of a rigorous programme outlined by Alexandre Estrela and the graphic designer Ana Baliza. Having begun in 2007, the cult film sessions have since built up a loyal group of hard-core fans.
