Murro na mesa, soco no estômago, bom apetite!

Exhibition

Saturday 10h-14h  Plus

Born of generations of conservative and prejudiced traditionalism, a need arises to look around and understand the failings of the system that governs us. 'Murro na mesa, soco no estômago, bom apetite!' presents a scene on the edge of reason — domestic, yet cold and impersonal — questioning the boundary between those who set the table and those who eat. In this installation of variable dimensions, adaptable to the exhibition space, visitors move through a 'labyrinth' of everyday objects rendered at unexpected scales. This ambiguity reinforces the idea that the pots and pans we use to feed ourselves are our 'home' — for those who recognise themselves within it. By treating kitchen objects as buildings and walls that confine and constrain, the work invites reflection on who puts on the shoes, who picks up the fork and knife, who positions themselves to devour the next meal. "And until then, we cling to the idea of the Little People, imprisoned at the bottom of the pot, pointing fingers at those walking beside us — fellow inmates, unaware that we are being consumed by those outside, fork and knife in hand, ready to devour their next meal."
