About this event
The tour begins at the cradle of the Avenidas Novas district: Duque de Saldanha square and the diversity it offers, the transition from Picoas to Avenida da República on a new urban and architectural scale, and the paradigmatic palatial residence by Norte Júnior. It then goes on to focus on the major axis that is Avenida da República and its diverse outstanding works, and takes in the complementary axes and the Art Déco and Modernist buildings of architects such as Pardal Monteiro and Cassiano Branco. The tour will also take in the city “outskirts” of the time, how some construction developments were designed as endpoints and others as “connections” to other nearby areas.
